Elma, Manitoba

This series includes multiple mediums: digital paintings, a website artwork, and an installation, all made from a brief segment of film in which a ‘projector jump’ occurs.

Elma is a tiny town on the frontier between huge geographic regions; it’s a leaving-off point where people gather supplies, brought by train, and disappear north into the wilderness. The town has a palpable, intermedial quality. Wikipedia: “Elma has a small rail station (hut) used frequently by people going to isolated cabins.”
